As we work to become a sustainable gift and fashion business, we consider how everything we do impacts the planet. From where we source our fabrics, our gifts, to how the clothes we stock are made, and even how we wrap them. And this ethos extends to our lives, our homes, your lives and your homes.
There are lots of really easy ways to lessen your impact on the environment all round. And there are just as many you can overlook – like just how bad it is using disposable razors or liquid soap (more on that below!). This brought us to thinking about a few things you might not instantly think about when gift shopping – and the following 7 eco friendly gifts are to inspire you. It really is a case of a little bit of thought, a big difference!
Nuddy Soaps - to be naked, free + happy.
Nuddy have made soap cool. Because, oh my word, it was boring. Similar to the one at your Nans house, but like, a million times better.
Nuddy products are Vegan friendly, 100% plastic/cruelty/SLS free, and made right here in the U.K using only the BEST ingredients.
It's time to ditch the plastic bottled body wash and fall back in love with the bar, baby.
We promise that you won't regret it.
The envelope sachet has been a signature product for over 35 years! Our sachets use specially blended oils that are encapsulated for maximum strength and product life. Add a touch of fragrance anywhere by slipping sachets into closets, drawers, gifts, cars, and more.
One sachet will fragrance a room for four months
100% biodegradable and made using recycled paper
No flame, no heat, no liquid, just fragrance
Part of how we work in a thoughtful way (the only way in our book) is to use natural, organic and recycled fabrics. It takes more time and consideration to use sustainable fabrics, but we see this as time well spent. Especially when it helps lower our impact on the planet.
Chilly's mission is to accelerate the adoption and everyday use of reusable products.
We aim to do this through creating products for an active urban lifestyle, with the perfect balance of distinctive style and unrivalled performance.
The result was the Chilly’s Bottle. A modern and stylish product designed to combine the convenience of a plastic water bottle, with the high performance technology and eco-friendly benefits of a traditional flask.
Beautiful textiles and throws made entirely from recycled plastic bottles
This range of beautiful, soft, handwoven textiles look and feel like wool, yet are easy to clean, hard wearing and can be used indoors or outdoor. All of our products are made entirely from recycled plastic bottles meaning not only do they look and feel amazing, they're cleaning up the planet too!
6. COMMIT TO NO PLASTIC BAGS - always reuse
A plastic bag can take from 15 to 1,000 years to break down, depending on environment. In a landfill, kept away from the environment that would help them biodegrade more easily, paper bags don't do much better. Plastic bags don't biodegrade, but they can break down through photo degradation Reusable grocery shopping bags are great for the environment and reduce paper and plastic waste going into our landfills. ...
You can use your cloth shopping bags for years and never throw them away. When they get dirty, it is simple to wash them and keep on using them. Reusable bags are strong and can be used for many years' worth of shopping trips. They also can carry far more weight than plastic bags.
I have a friend who commits to a new environmentally friendly idea every year. This is her 2019 pledge, which I’m tagging onto and encourage you to too. Just carry a cotton tote with you when you’re out and about; some of them fold up really small.
Beat the traffic and get there faster on two wheels. Or set off earlier and take a leisurely stroll now the weather’s better. Our High Street in the stunning Suffolk village of Debenham is worthy of a stroll, a bike ride when you have a few hours to our shop in person to see the full range of goodies, or stroll the street and you are supporting a local economy .
